"December Store" Open House
Sunday, Dec. 3, 10 am to 4 pm

Hot cider and homemade goodies will be served in the galleries all day. Enjoy some holiday cheer with the live Barbershop vocal ensemble - the "A Natural Quartet" who will sing a medley of holiday favorites while visitors enjoy the inspiration of handmade arts by over 50 Cape Cod artists in the galleries.

Christmas and Hanukkah ornament making for children ages 4-6 and 7-12 with artist Andrea Moore and others, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Studio Artists including Doug Rugh, Hillary Osborn, Bill Evans, Melissa Woringer and Gunjan Laborde will be on hand throughout the day in their studios where visitors can see paintings and weaving in progress.

The Cataumet Arts Center Artists' Gallery "December Store" features handmade fine arts and fine crafts by over 50 Cape Cod artists. Visit the galleries and artists' studios featuring many new pieces - including whimsical sculptures and lamps by Falmouth artist Susan Beardsley, and Cataumet sculptor Alfred Glover, beautiful hand-blown glass ornaments and functional blown glass by Michael Magyar of the Glass Studio in Sandwich, and hand forged metal sculptures of birds and marine life by Ron Pointer. Also on view: Carved wooden duck decoys by Richard Jason of Cataumet, colorful woven tapestries and apparel by Gunjan Laborde, unique pottery designs by Sarah Caruso, Hollis Engley, and Anne Halpin, as well as colorful mosaics by Cataumet artist Linda Dadak.

Visitors will also see oil paintings depicting landscapes and Cape Cod seascapes by Doug Rugh, Hillary Osborn, Hal DeWaltoff and Nick Vardack, William Adelman, and Jeanne Swan Masch, and watercolor landscapes of local marshes and views by Priscilla Levesque, Neva Curry, Jean Adelman, Kate Arsenault, Eva Mooring and Shirley Hogg. Also on view are the masterful miniature watercolors of orchids by Falmouth artist Paulette Loomis, and watercolors incorporating native plants and collage by Bobbi Bailin. Visitors will also see bronze and clay figure sculptures and folk quilts by Polly Seliger-Egelson of East Falmouth, and hand carved wooden spoons in ebony and rosewood by David Masch.

Photographs by Robert Manz, Ned Manter, Sean Palfrey, Claudin Poyant, Mark Chester and Emily Ferguson offer a look at the light and landscape unique to Cape Cod and abroad. Painters Shirley Mossman Nisbet, Kate Nelson, Bill Evans, David Kupferman, Naomi Cohan, and Sarah Ringler will be represented with contemporary works in oil and acrylic on canvas and paper.

The December store offers handmade jewelry by several Cape Cod artists including antique button jewelry by Laura Bergeron, beaded glass and fabric pieces by designer Robert Jordan, Karen Joyce's gold and silver one of a kind necklaces and earrings, and unique glass jewelry and home goods by Murphy Jenkins Glass Studio. The December Store also features knitted designer wear and woven apparel, handmade ornaments, handmade paper books and note cards, Handmade children's gifts, natural handmade cosmetics and an eclectic mix of books and cookbooks by local authors.
